Off on the train from Bern, Switzerland at 06:04 hrs to go inside mountains and visit the Swiss peaks of the Eiger (3970 meters), the Monch (4107 m), and the Jungfrau (4158 m).  Changed trains at Interlaken.

Change trains again at Lauterbrunnen.

Change trains st Klien Scheidegg.

This runs on “cogs” in the missle of the track that connect to a center drive wheel that has matching gripper cogs.  The drive wheel looks like a bicycle gear on steroids as it matches the thick metal cogs in the middle “third rail”.

This is the Swiss solution when you drive a heavey train up hills so steep that a normal would be slipping backward on the slick track instead of moving forward as planned.

The train goes through s tunnel bored in the Eiger mountain. You get two 5 minut stops in the mountain where you can see out and photo glaisures.

Then the train goes through a hole drilled in the solid granite Monch mountain.

The train expedition (gopher) continues through the Jungfraujoch mountain until you come out at the (so called) Top of Europe (3454 m). This is in the middle of “Glaisure City” (extrapolated word devoid of official naming conventions.
