Took a nice 4 AM sunrise over the middle Atlantic Ocean.  I can thank Ariel for spotting it first.b We have traveled 9000 miles so far.  We have been traveling for 26 hours and still going.   It was a challenge trying to sleep on the Airbus 320 jet.  I looked in the mirror in Frankfurt and now I know why they call that a ” Red Eye” flight.  It was hot & humid in N. Carolina yesterday.  It is cooler in Frankfurt about 55 degrees F and overcast.  It looks like the average European is thinner than Americans, for some reason.  When going through costoms in Europe, the Europe citizens go through without delays.  Everyone else gets to wait in long lines.  The customs was more intensive and invasive in San Francisco than in Frankfurt today.

Ariel started to get bored and turned into a black and white image.  Now we waiting for take off from N. Carolina to Frankfurt Germany.  We will fly all night and land at 10 AM tomorrow then board another plane for an hour flight to Hamburg.

The Swann (thumb size) Video Camera for Travelers.
_________________________________________

I have uploaded a three minute video to YouTube.com to explain the benefits of this low cost and useful travel size HD video camera that also takes still pictures.  You are invited to watch my video at this time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8swa7aYBVU&feature=youtu.be
I hope that you find the video to be informative and interesting.

This small video camera is as big as your thumb. It takes action color HD videos and records all the action to changeable SD Cards that can be up to 16 Gigabytes in capacity. It only cost around $70 plus around $20 each for the SD Cards. It also functions like a snap and shoot still camera. It comes with a lot of accessories to clip it on your belt, wall, on your computer, etc. I bought the item at Fry’s Electronics in Concord, California. The product is made by Swann Communications PTY, Ltd of Port Melbourne, Victoria 3207 Australia. It looks like just the right size to carry when taking long holidays in Europe. I give it a thumbs up at this time.   When recording videos, I was surprised at how large the file size became.  A short three minute video in HD (High Definition) was too large to send by e-mail.  I will need to look into reducing the quality of the image to end up with a smaller file size.

[.en]  When you are watching the video, on the lower right of the screen is a “cc” symbol for “Closed Captioning”.  When you click on it from the USA it will offer you English for the written text on the screen.  If you click on the line above the offered language you can pick another language to have written on your screen.  I set my last viewing to have the captions showing to me in the German Language and found that it added a bit novelty to the entire process.  If you have another language that you want to have written for you there are many languages for you to pick from.

Ariel says that Europeans try to enjoy life more than the average american does.  That may be true but the history of civilized Europe goes back in time much farther than it does in der USA, aye?

When asked what they were doing, they responded in German saying thst they were looking for the museum called Haitabu on the north coast of Germany when the batteries in their GPS gave out and they took a wrong turn br Denmark.

=====================================================

Haitabu:  A settlement from the Viking period (9th-11th centuries), located near the present day City of Schleswig, on the northern coast of Germany at the Baltic Sea.  Haitabu is the German spelling/pronunciation; Hedeby is the Danish/English spelling.  The area is currently being considered for a World Heritage Site status from UNESCO.

Haitabu-Hedeby  is small village in the northeast corner of Independence Isle, founded by Urman. Urman migrated from Jenn Kellon Home, where he had been a member of the village of Wildside. The German name Haitabu, was given first billing in recognition of the German members of Wildside (Yupps, Wollschaf, Saroman, and Woodywurm), who migrated to Wild at the cleansing.

Enjoying a high position on the ridge above the outer sea, Haitabu has good access to the interior of the island. Close neighbors include Mist to the southwest and Fort Karhula to the southeast.

From the 8th to the 11th century A.D., the Vikings were a dominant force in northern Europe. The port city of Haithabu at the western end of the Baltic Sea inlet known as the Schlei was one of their most important settlements and mercantile centres.

Today, a fascinating Viking Museum awaits you in Haithabu, reopened in 2010 after a complete re-modelling and re-organisation. Directly adjacent to the museum, you can travel back in time one thousand years into the world of the legendary Norsemen with a visit to the seven reconstructed Viking houses of Haithabu.  Whether you come only for a day or stay longer, Wikson and Ilsa – the Viking mascots of the Schlei region – are already looking forward to the chance to make the history of the Vikings come alive for you.
